 After applying the fix I've just seen another aspect of the problem I
 referred to in Comment 9.  My recording today of BBC Four News was mute.
 BBC Four (SD) is a part-time channel, and the News is its first item.  My
 recordings have a 2-minute pre-roll, so the possibility of bad behaviour
 clearly exists.  Somehow, ISTR, my earlier version avoided it.

 I found that I had sound and picture in the editor, and MythDVBcut has
 created a good copy, so I'm not much worried.  There are obvious
 workarounds.
