 After this commit, I have many SD recordings that I can no longer play
 (well they play, but with such bad stuttering they are unwatchable).  My
 HD recordings are unaffected.

 I'm using a remote backend, with files streamed over the myth protocol
 (not using NFS).

 This problem occurs no matter what playback profile I use (VDPAU, Slim,
 OpenGL Slim).

 Attached is a log created with mythfrontend -v playback

 Let me know if you need further logs or sample content.
