Comment (by dekarl):

 Is it on purpose that you transcode (convert to MPEG4+MP3 in NUV) instead
 of cutting lossless (keeping the MPEG2+AC3 intact)? Seeing that the file
 gets bigger the re-encoding doesn't seem to be worth it.
 You can try by using the --mpeg2 command line option or add a lossless
 transcoding profile in mythtv-setup.
