 I think I may have a potential resolution to this problem. Since reverting
 to an older version of the TBS drivers (v140113) the problem seems to have
 gone away. I'll keep monitoring but it looks promising. Since the TBS
 drivers are a closed source version of the whole v4l repository there may
 be a compatibility issue with their newer drivers potentially conflicting
 with my old Nova-T cards. Since it only occurs while recording there must
 be a problem when the scheduler queries the recording status of the
 card(s).

 I'll update this bug and potentially close it if the problem stays
 resolved.
