 This may be directly related to #11927, so apologizes if it's the same,
 but the exhibited behavior is different and I have different logs to
 attach.

 Occasionally, while in mythfrontend, the watch recordings screen will try
 to populate for many seconds, and eventually fail.  During this time,
 mythcontext will pop up and say that the backend is now online
 sporadically.

 I've attached logs with -v socket,network for both the master be and slave
 be per stuartm's suggestion on IRC.
