 I apologise for having left this in limbo.

 I added a bit to the version number so I could store an "invalid version"
 marker in the field to force updates. This mask only applies to the local
 storage of the value not the the info extracted from the table.

 What do I need to do to get this patch accepted? It has been running
 successfully here for some time now.
