 Sorry for the delay in replying.

 I'm afraid I was already running MythFrontend under OpenGL already.

 Just to make sure though, I changed to auto (no difference), then back to
 OpenGL but still no difference.

 It may be worth noting that I've not seen the example in screenshot 1 for
 some some time, but I get the screen in screenshot 2 every time I enter
 live TV with the option "Show the program guide when starting Live TV"
 enabled.
