Comment:

While some point releases in the past have come with schema or protocol
updates, this one did not. There is no incompatibility between 0.24.1 and
0.24.2. The only difference between fixes/0.24 HEAD, and the version that
comes with the current 1 Jan ebuild, are about 15 minor fixes. While Rob
Smith and I have admittedly been lax on updating the ebuilds recently, it
has generally not been considered a big issue as Gentoo users are expected
to be a bit self sufficient. That's the whole purpose of the distro.
More importantly, new ebuilds are only a quick command away.

Asking to update this is a feature request, and as a general principle, we
do not allow feature requests on trac. You gave links to someone else's
version to be used as an update, but there were no diffs to easily apply,
and no significant changes besides needlessly including the eclass code in
each and every ebuild. Until the linuxtv headers were moved a couple days
ago, there were no actual bugs with the ebuilds to warrant a ticket. I
had left the ticket open as a reminder of updates I wanted to make to the
above script, but Beirdo decided to close it as part of the process of
cleaning up trac for the upcoming 0.25 release.
