 I attempted to build 0.24.2/fixes for gcc 4.7 (Fedora rawhide, soon to be
 Fedora 17) and it looks like the functions from unistd.h are no longer
 gotten automatically.

 I'm not sure if this is the best way to fix the problem but it did allow
 compilation to complete.
