Comment (by nigel):

 QImage uses directories listed in QT_PLUGIN_PATH or
 QCoreApplication::libraryPaths() to load its plugins. On a machine with
 ''installed'' Qt, QImage will have the right directory in there. On a Mac
 package, libraryPaths will include MythFrontend.app/Contents/MacOS, so
 this should be a matter of copying some extra libs in there.
