 I experienced this as well, using a Dish VIP-211 outputting 720p/AC3,
 firmware 1.5.6, SPDIF audio, and component video.  This combination
 sometimes leads to recordings where the video framerate is 60fps but the
 audio is 59.94fps.  This can be seen by running "mplayer -vo null -ao null
 -frames 10 -identify filename.mpg | grep FPS".  I managed to fix this by
 downgrading the firmware to 1.0.5.301 and changing the VIP-211 audio
 output to PCM only (perhaps only one of those steps would be sufficient).

 I tried reading through the hdpvr driver, and given the interface, I can't
 see any way this is a myth or linux driver problem.  I'm almost certain
 it's a firmware problem.
