Comment:

 Simon, thanks for the patch.  Since you're no longer interested in this
 and have adopted the preferred approach for power savings (powering down
 systems when not in use), I'm closing this as wontfix.  Note, though, that
 last I heard, Janne has some changes planned that will give the same type
 of benefits this patch aims to provide but with a slightly different
 implementation (that doesn't require the settings and that should "just
 work" for everyone).
