 I've tried both SATA and PATA DVD drives with exactly the same issues - it
 does appear to be drive related, but more in how the drive is accessed by
 MythTV than pure HW.  Obviously I don't have an exhaustive selection of
 drives, the ones I've tested are LiteOn - which work well in both of my
 frontend machines and every application, except MythTV on one machine.
