 I believe I am encountering this as well, although it is not just limited
 to the midway point. Usually it is the mid-way point, as well as 1 or 2
 points beyond that. The end of recording dialog can be "aborted" by
 pausing and unpausing the recording. The false end-of-recording can also
 be jumped past.
