Comment:

 Can you attach the output of mythfrontend -v playback from a recording
 displaying the symptoms. A short clip covering the start of a commercial
 break would be extremely useful too.

 I'm assuming you are using a combination of different output methods in
 your display profile - are you using bookmarks as well?
