Comment:

 I've been looking at the socket code recently and already have a patch
 that retries more effectively... This can also cause recorders to go
 offline until mythbackend is restarted and cause slave backends to
 disconnect permanently.

 I already have a patch that I've been testing here, but it still needs
 some more work.
