Comment:

 I've just tried this on MythTV trunk and KDE3.5 and it worked fine for me.
 In any case MythWelcome and Myth in general isn't really a desktop
 application it's designed to be run full screen on a TV and to be
 controlled by a remote control at least that is how I see it others may
 disagree.

 Incidentally the 'End' key is the proper key to use to exit MythWelcome or
 press MENU and select 'Exit' is the remote friendly way :-)
