#5405: MythVideo playback glitches while playing ASF (wmv9) video
-------------------------------------+--------------------------------------
 Reporter: dogshu at sdf.lonestar.org | Owner: awithers
     Type:  defect                   |      Status:  new
 Priority:  minor                    |   Milestone:  0.21.1
Component:  mythvideo                |     Version:  0.21-fixes
 Severity:  medium                   |     Mlocked:  0
-------------------------------------+--------------------------------------
 MythVideo has serious playback problems with Microsoft ASF format WMV9
 video files. Specifically, I have problems playing the files produced by
 PBS of their "NewsHour" program. It will randomly "skip", losing anywhere
 from a fraction of a second to several seconds of audio and video. This
 can happen several times in a short period, or only happen every few
 minutes.

 A sample video on which mythvideo exhibits this problem (145 MB):

 The problem should be readily apparent within a few minutes of playing the
 above video with MythTV 0.21-fixes. mplayer, xine, and mythtv 0.20 have
 no problems playing the file.

 The mythfrontend log fills up with these messages while playing the file:
 2008-06-03 17:59:33.753 NVP::AddAudioData():p1: Audio buffer overflow,
 audio data lost!
 2008-06-03 17:59:33.988 NVP::AddAudioData():p1: Audio buffer overflow,
 audio data lost!

 however, I am not sure if they are related to the playback problem, since
 they fill up the log whether or not the video is skipping.

 I am running mythtv-0.21-fixes svn revision 17429 on x86 Gentoo Linux.
 Please let me know if you have any questions.
