 Dlink DSM-320 firmware 1.09 [http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=318]works
 fine with 720x480 mpeg2 recordings made by mythtv, but will not play
 videos encoded in Xvid/Divx (Same xvids play with tversity as a upnp
 server with no problem)

 Error once selecting the xvid under videos on the DSM-320 is "Unable to
 open the file"

 I am not sure how to get logs from the backend to support this ticket.

 I run mythbuntu and and a dpkg -l myth-backend returns "0.20.2+fixes15"
