 It appears that the patch (which I still haven't actually tested myself!)
 reduced wakeups for both the frontend (145->75) and backend (75-16) which
 I'm glad to see. Why did you not think it helped the backend? Have you
 noticed any bugs from running the patch?

 Are you seeing those select timeouts with or without the patch applied? To
 dig in deeper, you'll likely need to get the debugger out or debugging in
 some other means.
