 Attaching a fix for the issue which is shown in the logs of Tino and
 Miwer. The problem in Eric's log  is different.

 It may not be the solution we finally choose. This idea comes from Janne.
 It has been confirmed to work, but I'd like to see whether it causes other
 problems for anyone.
