Rereading jonner@'s message, I realize that I likely misinterpreted his
bug report. He wrote:

jonner@'s report indicates that his problem recordings ''always'' display
doubled recording times. I've never seen that; the bug that I reported
Tom's patch as fixing is what he describes in #comment:26 (also reported
at #1693); thus my description of it as "cosmetic."
