 Ive updated the ac3 multichannel patch to work with the latest ffmpeg
 update
 you need the external liba52 library installed from your favorite
 repository.
 configure with
 --enable-liba52bin --enable-liba52 --disable-decoder=ac3 --enable-
 decoder=liba52
 so that ac3 works correctly (may not be needed in the future)
 works ok for me
