 I am experiencing this problem as well.  I believe I've tracked it down to
 this log entry from mythbackend:

 2007-12-04 22:11:09.169 MediaServer:: Bad BackendServerIP Address -
 127.0.0.1. Disabling UPnP

 I have a single machine (combined FE/BE).  Both of the IP addresses in
 mythtv-setup are set to 127.0.0.1.  This seems to disable uPNP (ala
 programs/mythbackend/mediaserver.cpp line 73).

 Perhaps this is part of the problem discussed in this ticket?
