Hi there!
I just wanna mention that my ultimate emulator wrapper called emuexec is
now avaible as a single package!
The benefits for mythtv and especially mythgame are not so easy to find:
At first look at emuexec:
EmuExec is now a standalone package and desktop independent. EmuExec acts
as a configuration wrapper between all emulators and adds many nice
features like fullscreen emulation, 12 decompression formats , automatic
screenshots or rom-image identification to any emulator, .........
Configure once - use it everywhere! : http://kde-
apps.org/content/pre1/14115-1.jpg
E.g. Set all settings in one file and every emulator has the same
behaviour and all options right set. Even some more advanced options for
xmess,xmame,wine,dosbox and qemu are available.
But for mythgame, the most interesting thing is the emulation-table. All
config generators use this stucture to build up the menu. It detects if
emulator, rom- and screenshot directory are available and automagically
generates the configuration. confgen-mythtv even uses the frontend-
settings to insert the generated SQL-Statements into your database - so
back it up before! With the default settings, everything should work out
of the box with no configuration stress for the end-user. Even for the
automatic screenshots, emuexec handles everything automatically. Very
interesting is the auto-download of mame-artwork-images for the started
romset. But for now it should be enough there would be sooooo much to
mention - so just look. Download emuexec, or better download kdeaddons-
emulation too - for the best emulation desktop you can get !
If you wanna know more - just ask here or use http://kde-
apps.org/content/show.php?content=14115
PS: Wait for the next release emuexec 1.2, and see this as preview. But in
general - its fully usable.
PPS: May I ask questings too here :) ? - Having more idears but need some
code and info!
