 Has anyone looked into this (especially to see if there are other
 instances)?

 I'm finding that on an Epia front end its almost unusable without this
 patch as a moments impatience and its a reboot to recover (restarting just
 the frontend results in the XvMC display being messed up, often resulting
 in a green screen).

 The patch applies cleanly to r11458.
