 Let me put it this way:

 DVD works with xine, using the same libs (libdvdread/libdvdnav).
 DVD does not work with Myth's internal player.

 OS issue? Or subtle bug somewhere in Myth?
 Happens in about one in 20 PAL region 4 DVD's I rent out.
 But now I've been reminded of it, I'll rent out a few DVD's that I know
 have issues and pursue it further.
