 I believe this has fixed it!  Thanks!  Another symptom that I saw before
 this patch was that after running for a while (without doing much
 navigating) it would crash.  As part of my testing I also ran it for 24
 hours straight (with the amp off, of course.  ;-) ) and there were no
 problems.
