 There are input devices under /dev/input/* that can be used for input for
 mythtv. Currently mythtv do not utilize these as well as it could, for
 example gamepads needs to be mapped to keys on a virtual keyboard
 (joystickmenurc) in order to be used.

 I suggest you make it possible to read any eventX (as mouse, keyboard and
 gamepad all can go under these) or all possible devices under /dev/input
 and assign them keys just like you would normally do under mythcontrol
 (settings -> edit keys).

 I don't know how lirc act in this matter, as I never used it.
