 Refs #652.

 The recent changes here have impacted my problems in #652.  I'm currently
 running SVN 8007.  In the recent bout of commits, it has changed, but not
 fixed, the behavior of my  OSD.  Before 7983, 7993 and 7994, my fonts used
 to normally proportioned, but the entire OSD was too large and overflowed
 over the left and right boundaries of my screen.

 Now in 8007, the fonts are too wide and look bold.  The OSD is now aligned
 properly relative to the left edge, but runs over the right edege.
