 i tested with [7970] and i'm not able to reproduce the crash.
 i can switch cards and get a picture.

 but something that may or may not have to do with this is that before i
 tested i changed the starting channel on my dvb card, this fixed the
 problem with zero length recordings.

 anyway, i can switch cards and get a picture.
