 I'm using ATA, seagate and maxtor drives.  I have 4 drives on the
 motherboard and 2 more on a PCI IDE controller.  One other thing, I've
 noticed the blocking runs from 2-10 minutes, then it it's suddenly fine
 for sometimes the rest of the recording, or sometimes problems come back
 after a few minutes.  I can try running valgrind and see what goes on.

 Other things I've noticed, sometimes if I kill the backend when it's
 having problems and start things up again the blocking starts 1-2 seconds
 after it begins recording (2-4 seconds after starting the backend), I have
 the buffer set to 96k (max) and I doubt this is filled up that fast...
