I have a Raspberry Pi 4B that I acquired a while back and I was
successfully running Mythtv Light with first Buster, and later, Bookworm.
Along the way, I upgraded mythtv a couple of times (to v33).
Recently, that device started having some weird issues so I decided to wipe
it and install fresh.

My "#1 Rule" is to always keep the old SD card until the
replacement works. Re-use the card later.

I've also found there are poor-good-better-best cards. I prefer
SanDisk; YMMV. The RPi folks are selling their own optimized
card; I have not tired as of yet. Also, a nearly full card or an
aging card can cause 'weird issues'; I don't know if your weird
issues are similar to my weird issues.

Another potential cause of weird issues is the need for a
reboot. Some say rebooting is a work-around to the real problem;
I'm not a programmer so since I haven't a clue how to fix the real
problem I do it another way. I have multiple RPi's around the
house (only a few with MythTV) and a once-a-week reboot generally
keeps them happy.

As a work-around, I installed a fresh Bookwork and then the full mythtv
frontend (not the light version), but that is painfully sluggish on the 4B.

My 'main' Frontend is a Raspberry Pi 4B, with Bookworm. on a 32
GB SD card. The Lite version for MythTV is installed. I've not
tried the full version except on a AMD/Intel motherboard. From
what I've read the full version on a RPi will result in your
sluggishness issue.

Another potential issue causing bad results is the use of WiFi.
** Please note the following information is probably outdated!
** Several years ago I was using an RPi (possibly a 3B -
whatever was current at the time) and connecting using WiFi --
mediocre results. Switched over to Ethernet -- the sluggishness,
etc., vanished. LIS, that one is probably outdated but WiFi still
can have problems.

Hope this helps!
