<div dir="ltr"><font color="#1f1f1f" face="arial, sans-serif"><span style="font-variant-ligatures:no-contextual">I wanted to branch off the original topic about event posting to talk specifically about doing it with nfty.sh that Peter had mentioned. </span></font><div><font color="#1f1f1f" face="arial, sans-serif"><span style="font-variant-ligatures:no-contextual"><br></span></font></div><div><font color="#1f1f1f" face="arial, sans-serif"><span style="font-variant-ligatures:no-contextual">On a test mythtv FE/BE combo I installed the ntfy software package and then the Android app on my phone.  On my phone I used the + button to subscribe to a topic whose name meant something to me related to the mythtv-database-backup systemd service I have running once a day. </span></font></div><div><font color="#1f1f1f" face="arial, sans-serif"><span style="font-variant-ligatures:no-contextual"><br></span></font></div><div><font color="#1f1f1f" face="arial, sans-serif"><span style="font-variant-ligatures:no-contextual">In the bash shell script that the systemd service runs I just added the command:</span></font></div><div><span style="font-family:monospace"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0)">curl -d "nucboxg3 mythconverg Checked and Backed Up, RC=0" <a href="http://ntfy.sh/jfa-mythtv-database-backup">ntfy.sh/jfa-mythtv-database-backup</a></span><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family:monospace"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><br></span></span></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif">This worked and now I get the notifications on my phone instead of the email that I used to get back when it was easier to add external mail to a running program.</font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif">Next I tested the System Events in mythtv backend setup via the Web App and put in a similar curl command and I picked the Recording Started event.  That worked as well.</font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif">From what I can figure out I'm using their service via their <a href="https://ntfy.sh">https://ntfy.sh</a> and I don't have an account setup.  So it's free.  Their cheapest fee plan is $5/month for an annual plan. That gives you a lot of messages per day and a lot of other services I don't need or want. I'm not sure what I want to do.  They talk about self hosting, but not sure why I'd need that.  Maybe just a donation to their project might be a way to support this?</font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif">Thought?</font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif">Jim A</font></div><div><font color="#000000" face="arial, sans-serif"><br></font></div></div>
