<div dir="ltr"><div>hi,</div><div><br></div><div>I'm in the process of setting up mythtv (v34) and related services.  I've got two usb tuner cards hooked up to indoor antennas in orthogonally facing windows (one east and one south).  I'm looking for the best way to ensure that each transmitter is read from the best available input for both recordings and live tv.  I'm also curious about the behaviour of manually deleted channels, which seemed surprising in a previous and now abandoned backend install..<br></div><div><br></div><div>How do broadcast TV watchers normally deal with these issues?<br></div><div><br></div><div>LIVE TV</div><div><br></div><div>Here's what I'm seeing with live TV on mythfrontend:</div><div>1. Navigating to a channel through the keypad seems to dynamically pick the source with the best signal, which is great.</div><div>2. Changing channels with the arrow keys seems to keep the same input, even when switching a transmitter the other input is better situated for.</div><div>3. Swapping sources with 'y' implicitly switches to the current or default channel of the new input, rather than tuning the new input to the current channel.</div><div><br></div><div>This seems less than ideal.  I would much rather see:</div><div>1. Navigating to a channel on a new transmitter dynamically chooses the best available input all the time.</div><div>2. Swapping sources with 'y' tunes the new source to the client's current channel whenever possible.</div><div><br></div><div>Is there a way to make this happen on both mythfrontend and the Kodi client?</div><div><br></div><div>RECORDINGS</div><div><br></div><div>I would like to statically assign all my recordings to the best source, because I don't want some transient signal strength inversion to throw a recording onto the wrong input for a whole hour.</div><div><br></div><div>From <a href="http://backend:6544">http://backend:6544</a>, it looks like I can use "Schedule Order" to favor one source over the other for all transmitters.  It would be great if I could set this parameter on a per-transmitter basis instead of globally.  It seems like I can more-or-less simulate this behavior by:</div><div>1.  finding all the transmitters (one?) that work best with the secondary source</div><div>2. removing all their channels from the primary source lineup</div><div>3. using "Schedule Order" to favor the primary source for all channels available from both sources</div><div><br></div><div>The clear downside is that LiveTV  no longer has the option of playing any channel from either source.  I would say this is the only downside if I had a clear idea of how to undelete channels I remove from a source.</div><div><br></div><div>CHANNEL DELETE/UNDELETE</div><div><br></div><div>I initially assumed that you could undelete a channel by rediscovering it in a full channel scan.  This did not seem to work with my old mythtv install, but I may have been confused about something else.  What _is_ the easiest way to undelete a channel you've deleted in the channel editor?</div><div><br></div><div>thanks,</div><div><br></div><div>Jason</div><div><br></div></div>
