this was a great little feature, especially if you
converted your file/program to an .mp4 that you could
save/archive a program.<br>

Are you looking for a way to download the recordings or
videos? I have <br>
not included that yet, but it would be very easy. I did
not know if <br>
anybody used it or needed it.<br>
<br>
I was thinking about how to play the video from the web
app.<br>
<br>
If I include a link to the file for download, you can
play the recording <br>
or video without downloading by pasting that link into
VLC or running <br>
VLC with that as a command line parameter. Unfortunately
I could not <br>
find a way to launch VLC from the web app.<br>

the webapp ?<br>

<div>IMHO, this is now handled by browser plugins.</div>

<p>Yes - meant from the browser.</p>
<p>I looked at the VLC launch plugins and they are not much
help. I added a link to a video file on a page to test and the
plugins ignore it. I don't know how to get them to launch VLC
with the URL of a video file that appears on the page.<br>

<p>There used to be a browser plugin that would allow VLC to be
embedded in the browser window and play most files in the
browser. One of my old CCTV camera's used to use it for playback
in a browser but when all the browsers removed support for the
old plugin interface it stopped working. I could be wrong but I
don't think there is any way to play many of the video formats
we need in MythTV like the *.ts format used by many tuners :(</p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p>I think it was Stuart M. who was working on getting DASH or HLS
playback working in the old WebFrontend but that requires the
backend to re-transcode stuff on the fly which is OK if you have
a powerful backend machine but not so good on a small power
efficient BE that a lot of users use theses days.</p>

I don't want to get involved with that. I did not convert those API
calls to V2. VLC can play the download URL without needing to
download the file, including a ts download URL.<br>
