Wow, that is a crazy problem.  Apt should just have installed the<br>
missing file from the package.  Maybe that should be reported as a<br>
bug?<br>

And how did mariadb.cnf disappear anyway?  Have you had a bad shutdown<br>
or power failure where you had to run fsck multiple times to clear up<br>
