This is not necessarily correct. If both HDHomeRuns are
connected
to
the same videosource/antenna (very likely the case here), the
user
wants to configure 4 capture cards each using both HDHRs. The
reason
is that all tuners connected to the same source are pooled
together.
Ok, I see the idea behind David Engel's approach. So who has
the best approach to this, David or Scott Theisen?

If the pooling works as David described, that would be the better
solution. I have only one HDHR device, so I can't test that.
However, this should only matter if other devices on the network
access the HDHRs directly, since that would prevent MythTV from
re-tuning the tuner in use by the other device.

To test that I would:

Using a computer with the hdhomerun_config_gui, lock one of
the tuners on one of the HDHRs.

Using a second computer with hdhomerun_config_gui, lock the
other tuner of that HDHR to a different RF channel.

Set up MythTV to make two test recordings on two additional,
different RF channels.

If MythTV successfully starts both recordings, the test is
successful.
