As others have said, it depends. Your grabber (or upstream
source that the grabber uses) may only update the guide
data once a day (or so), so if you run the grabber more than
once a day it may end up making no changes, and MythTV
reports that as a possible issue so you have the opportunity
to investigate further. It should be noted that MythTV is
rather limited in its idea(s) of updates, as it only considers
dates (and not details of potential schedule/program updates),
so it can be further misleading some of the time, and only
the last run of mythfilldatabase counts (so if you run it
2 times, and the first time it got new data, but not the
next time, it will report the potential issue).

Thank you for this, Gary. I think this must be what is happening -- this morning I still have the error message, but the date range for the listings has bumped forward by a day. So it must have run at least once correctly.

Thank you, everyone, for your help! I'm glad to have it working, and I think crontab was probably the solution for me. I'm not totally sure, but no matter, it's working!

If you want a bit more detail, and are running a recent
version of MythTV, start the backend with the options
`-verbose general, xmltv` which should will be propagated
to mythfilldatabase and (potentially) show some additional
information in the logs.
