<div dir="ltr">From the MySQL reference manual for both 5.7 & 8 (<a href="https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/alter-user.html">link</a>), executing ALTER USER .... IDENTIFIED WITH sets the existing password to expired.  I assume this is the issue at hand.<div><br></div><div>Tim</div></div>
