I do not know exactly when DVB-S2 support was added but v29 is rather
old. Could it be that the FTA channels you found were DVB-S and not
S2? The stream on Hotbird 13B, 10971MHz/horizontal which has SRF1
and SRF2 is DVB-S2.
I suggest that you try today's master and if that does not work then
please create a ticket.
A log file created with "mythbackend -v general,dvbcam
--loglevel=debug --logpath=. " should be attached in order to make
analysis possible.
BTW, I have added symbol rate 29700000 to the popup list so that will
make your life a little bit easier :)

<p> So I've upgraded to Ubuntu 19.04 (losing access to the
computer in the process: no keyboard, no mouse, and no shell
leading to ssh being problematic...), mythtv-backend was also
un-installed!</p>
<p> But after solving some of those issues (still no keyboard and
no mouse), regretfully, I still can't decode the satellite
signals. I've also re-installed the V4L/DVB drivers and rebooted.
It seems this is required each time I upgrade to a new kernel.<br>
