Another thing. I just watched a program where the automatic commercial <br>
skip worked good enough that I didn't do any manual skipping. The lip <br>
sync was good after the automatic skips, but in one of the scenes a few <br>
second after a commercial the actor was saying no and shaking his head <br>
side to side. The lips were in sync, but head motions was a little jerky <br>
like it was filmed at 15 fps. I backed the program up 30 seconds, paused <br>
for a few seconds and then let it run. The video was fine with perfect <br>
lip sync and no jerky head motion.<br>

This allowed me to be watching pre-recorded content, with confidence that commercial skip would not unintentionally skip parts of the show (due to the fact that I'd edited the commercial cuts to ensure they were correct before watching) while editing the commercials detected in the next show I was going to watch on the TV using my laptop. </div><div><br></div><div>I realize that many use a remote to control their frontends, but if you happen to have one with it's own keyboard, or a laptop like I do, it's very easy to do once you get the hang of it. On screen instructions make it clear what you are doing and once you get the hang of it it is very straightforward and quick. Once you have corrected the beginning and end of each commercial skip, the Escape key brings up a menu to save and continue. </div><div><br></div><div>I got into the habit of reviewing each pre-recorded show before watching and also set the "commercial skip' settings to skip automatically without showing the skip on screen.</div><div><br></div><div>I know many of you are thinking "well Duh! that's mythtv's whole point" but since many folks on this list claim that they don't use commercial detection because it's not perfect - it makes me wonder if they know how easy it is to "correct" the commercial skip.</div><div><br></div><div>Just hoping that this helps someone get more satisfaction out of using mythtv!!</div><div><br></div><div>-- George</div><div><br></div></div></div>
