Okay, I must have missed the announcement. If memory serves,
you used to have the use painter set to Qt. Which is what
installation set and what I had when VAAPI didn’t work. I ran
from console and saw an error about can’t run opengl with qt.
So I went to Setup > Appearance > paint engine and
changed it from qt to auto and now VAAPI works. As well VDPAU,
OpenGL High Quality. They all seem to work the same.

What I read - and do - is that in order to use VAAPI the painter
engine has to be OpenGL, which is probably why your "auto" setting
works. VAAPI works perfect on my NUCs, as long as the engine is
OpenGL.

I can't get VDPAU to work on them - but then again I'm still on
28-fixes.
