</div></div>No, the name of the driver file does not have the version number in<br>
it.  For comparison, my mother's MythTV box uses the 304 drivers and<br>
this is what it shows when the driver loads correctly:<br>

So there is a fundamental problem here - the Nvidia drivers are not<br>
installed properly.  The Xorg driver file (nvidia_drv.so) is not<br>
loading.  So the logs to be looking at are the ones of the install of<br>
the Nvidia drivers.  Those are in /var/log/apt.  In there, the<br>
history.log file is what apt has done at the package level.  The<br>
term.log files are the output to the terminal of what happened as the<br>
packages were installed (or removed).  So look in the term.log files<br>
and find your last install of the Nvidia drivers and see if it shows<br>
what went wrong.<br>

I have never come across any problems like this since Nvidia drivers<br>
were made available in packages in the Ubuntu distro.  You normally<br>
either get an error message during the install of the packages, and<br>
the install fails, or the install works and the drivers work.<br>
