</span>Be aware that I have a bug in 16.04 where alsa randomly gets the SPDIF<br>
output muted - it happens to me once or twice a day, sometimes in the<br>
middle of watching a programme.  I have never bothered to track down<br>
where the problem is, but I do have to do an "alsactl restore" command<br>
to restore my alsamixer settings.  And occasionally the stored<br>
settings are wrong and I need to use alsamixer again then do "alsactl<br>
store" to save them.  I have no idea if that is the same thing that<br>
happened to you or if you simply never had the alsa settings right in<br>
the first place.<br>
