Stock Ubuntu kernels (4.10,4.13, 4.15 etc) on 16.04 and 18.04 do
not fully support Hauppauge.<br>
<br>
One possible solution is to use Hauppauge PPA see README.md section
at <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://github.com/b-rad-NDi/Ubuntu-media-tree-kernel-builder">https://github.com/b-rad-NDi/Ubuntu-media-tree-kernel-builder</a><br>
Note that the Hauppauge PPA currently installs a 4.4 LTS series
kernel on Ubuntu 16.04, so you may need to adjust grub to boot the
correct kernel.<br>
<br>
Another possible solution retaining your existing kernel but updates
the V4L media stack (which has most but not all of Hauppauge
changes) see Basic approach at
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers">https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers</a><br>
Note this has to be done every time the kernel is updated.<br>
<br>
I use the Hauppauge PPA for my QuadHD DVB card (I am in UK) on
Xubuntu 18.04 (I also used the PPA on Xubuntu 16.04 before I
upgraded to 18.04)<br>
