</span>Hot should not typically be a problem (iff the device<br>
is designed for it), but discoloration does raise a bit of<br>
concern.  Was it "new" new, or "new to you" new, or<br>
"returned to <seller> and sold as new" new?  There<br>
have been more than one person who has gotten a<br>
"new" device that were clearly returns, or refurbs,<br>
and had all the indication that the previous owner<br>
(ab)used the device, perhaps using the wrong<br>
voltage power supply, and caused some issues.<br>
There was one report that a person bought a "new"<br>
new device that was completely empty inside the<br>
plastic case.<br>

In any case, you might want to open a ticket<br>
with SD and ask about the discoloration.<br>
