As I'm recalling it, I previously set up my super-low-quality transcoding profile in storage options, then selected it to run on a certain recording after it had completed. I would say the transcoding job took an hour or maybe 2 on my former MythTV system--nothing like the 20-hours mentioned by George. But I do not see any storage options in any of the menus on my current system, so am unable to re-implement those steps.<br>

As to Karl's script, I looked it over but got a bit confused by it (my bash knowledge/ability is pretty paltry, so any script longer than a few lines is quite challenging for me to comprehend). My main point of confusion is how the script is to be called. I see that there is a commented-out informational line at the beginning of the script that seems to relate to invoking it, but that line does not contain sufficient information for someone with my limited comprehension to be able to deploy it on short notice. I'd have to do a bit more research into what this script is doing and how/if it somehow interfaces with the database. And it looks like I won't have time for that prior to departure.<br>

But I do want to express my appreciation for the assistance.<br></blockquote></div><br></div><div class="gmail_extra">Yes, the line at the beginning shows how to call it. That's what you should put into the user job line (except "$0" is replaced with the actual path to your script, such as /usr/local/bin/myth_export.sh or something like that). You have to edit/create the user job in mythtv-setup, or in mythweb if you're feeling brave. Then you can activate it for a particular recording by selecting it from User Jobs.<br><br></div><div class="gmail_extra">Karl<br></div></div>
