Mytybuntu-14.04. It worked fine on my previous
installation of Mythbuntu 12.04. On this, some of the

Using irw, I press a working button and the message
comes onto the screen immediately. Pressing a
non-working button, I get no message, wait seconds,
press again and get two messages immediately. MythTv
responds the same as irw, on non-working buttons, it
waits for the second press. It's as if something is
holding onto the first event.
This is a completely new box that I built months ago,
but never finished. During the build, lirc didn't work
at all until I copied some of the configuration files
from the 12 box to the 14 box. Not sure if that means
anything, but maybe I broke something in the process.
I looked through those threads, it sounds like I may need to
manually switch over to the kernel-based system. It's amazing
that a brand new build with a pretty common remote doesn't just
work.
Got it working!

I read more from the threads you suggested and eventually realized
that using files from the 12.04 version was a bad idea. I think
/etc/lirc/hardware.conf was the culprit. After restoring the
original files, the remotes started working correctly.

Then I had a problem with the HD-PVR. All the setups and scripts
were good (except in the Mythbuntu control panel; it blanks out the
blaster selection and throws and error...but the configs were
correct) so I tried un-commenting "DISABLE_KERNEL_SUPPORT="false" "
in hardware.conf. That made the HD-PVR work, but the remote went
crazy (most keys had double hits), so I commented out that line
again. After re-boot, both remote and HD-PVR worked correctly. Not
sure why, but I'll take the win. Thanks for the suggestion.

PS - The remote works better than it ever has. The keyboard system
seems to be a big improvement.
