But haven't there been channel change scripts discussed that do something similar to overcome the power toggle issue where the STB has an on/off toggle remote code? IIRC the script(s) checked if myth was receiving a black screen or not (within certain thresholds). If it was deemed to be black the assumption was that the box was off so it sent the power toggle code first then the channel change command. If the received screen was non black the sending of power code was skipped.<br>

No doubt it would need much modification (ie check for a pin entry screen not a blank screen, looping etc etc) for your purposes but might be the starting point you need?<br>
